{"id":119,"date":"2016-11-08T17:47:21","date_gmt":"2016-11-08T22:47:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rebeccaleone.com\/blog\/?p=119"},"modified":"2016-11-08T18:11:44","modified_gmt":"2016-11-08T23:11:44","slug":"flash-of-objectivity-election-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rebeccaleone.com\/blog\/2016\/11\/08\/flash-of-objectivity-election-edition\/","title":{"rendered":"Flash of Objectivity, Election Edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Trip with me, won&#8217;t you?<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Galaxy images from NASA&#039;s Hubble telescope\" width=\"660\" height=\"371\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ya38Ie20XxA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>These are\u00a0images of Galaxies from NASA&#8217;s Hubble telescope.<\/p>\n<p>There are <em>trillions<\/em> of stars in some galaxies with over <em>100 billion galaxies in the known universe<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Hello everything!<\/p>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h4>a Flash of Objectivity<\/h4>\n<p>If we&#8217;re\u00a0lucky,\u00a0we get a handful of moments in life where some seemingly mystical, random combination of circumstances converge around us, and we&#8217;re\u00a0suddenly capable of true objectivity; of feeling and seeing and being at one with our place in the universal order of everything and everyone, of our place in line with everything and everyone that&#8217;s gone before us, and all that will come after, of how insignificant we are and yet how extraordinarily important we are.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of where or when they happen for me, when they happen for me, I&#8217;m insanely\u00a0aware of everything and, simultaneously, of nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of where or when they happen for me, when they happen for me, I&#8217;m able to realize the bounds of my utter impermanence, the bounds of my life and its utter insignificance in relationship to everything else\u00a0<strong>but<\/strong>\u00a0how I&#8217;m\u00a0somehow\u00a0an integral part of the\u00a0physical space I occupy, on this physical land, on this physical continent, on this physical planet, in this physical galaxy, and how this physical galaxy is part of billions of other physical galaxies in our physical universe. \u00a0To recap, while in Flash, I&#8217;m aware that I&#8217;m nothing while at the same time my nothingness is part of everything else that&#8217;s, at the same time, something and nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Suggestion: Perhaps you should take a hit of pot because I&#8217;m only half way through the set up of this piece.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s what&#8217;s happening in my mind on\/in Flash, but there&#8217;s a body-centric\u00a0component of being on\/in Flash, too.<\/p>\n<p>My\u00a0body doesn&#8217;t end, it\u00a0blends, it merges, it is subsumed by the air around me. \u00a0What I&#8217;m\u00a0seeing is somehow <em>not\u00a0<\/em>coming in through my\u00a0eyes, it&#8217;s already inside me\u00a0and I&#8217;m\u00a0looking out through it, as part of it. \u00a0For me, these Flashes of Objectivity almost always occur when I&#8217;m out in nature and when they happen, without exception, wind\u00a0and light and sound pass through my body as if I had no mass. \u00a0Instead of giving resistance or being impenetrable to wind and light and sound, my body seems to no longer exist as something separate from everything else.<\/p>\n<p>During these Flashes of Objectivity, I am gone from what I know of myself and I&#8217;ve become part of everything else.<\/p>\n<p>This type of transcendence is what the monks are capable of when deep in meditation or prayer. \u00a0Surely, this is what drug addicts&#8217; seek to control the repeat of. \u00a0Surely, this is what it&#8217;s like to\u00a0merge with all life forms, and with God.<\/p>\n<p>You want more of everything, don&#8217;t you? \u00a0Me too! \u00a0I went and got us more of everything from the internet! \u00a0More of everything is right here!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Awesome pictures from the Hubble Space Telescope [1080p]\" width=\"660\" height=\"371\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/loXDVGi_lK0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I have memories of those Flashes\u00a0coming to me as early as 8 or 9 years old &#8211; while fishing, while riding my boy&#8217;s bike with a banana seat and cherry picker handle bars (I was gender fluid before we knew what it was!) &#8211; but I couldn&#8217;t describe them until I got into my teens.<\/p>\n<p>In my late teens, I had one of my longest sustained Flash. \u00a0Not surprisingly, a Fiat was involved.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve always been a loner and one day, I drove my bright\u00a0yellow Fiat X19 out to the Ten Cent Bridge where I parked on the sand just a few feet from the water&#8217;s edge, and I laid on the hood and watched the clouds float by.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-121\" src=\"http:\/\/rebeccaleone.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Screen-Shot-2016-11-08-at-4.43.45-PM.png\" alt=\"Ten Cent Bridge\" width=\"923\" height=\"486\" srcset=\"http:\/\/rebeccaleone.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Screen-Shot-2016-11-08-at-4.43.45-PM.png 923w, http:\/\/rebeccaleone.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Screen-Shot-2016-11-08-at-4.43.45-PM-300x158.png 300w, http:\/\/rebeccaleone.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Screen-Shot-2016-11-08-at-4.43.45-PM-768x404.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 923px) 100vw, 923px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dolphins came to breathe with\u00a0me, for me. \u00a0Fish burbled to announce themselves, then jumped to show off for me. \u00a0Waves lapped the shore trying to get to me. \u00a0Heavy wet hot air carried the trace elements of the water that couldn&#8217;t quite get on me, and that heavy wet hot Florida air surrounded me with salt\u00a0that left grit in my nostrils as I took it, with every breath, into my lungs. \u00a0That heavy wet hot Florida air carried\u00a0the grit of salt into\u00a0my ears, and all through my waist length blonde hair. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bumbleandbumble.com\/products\/spp\/index.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT72&amp;PRODUCT_ID=221\">Bumble &amp; Bumble<\/a>, you&#8217;re a poser. \u00a0The sun baked my skin, it heated my body from above and it came for me from underneath by\u00a0heating\u00a0the hood of my car beneath me. \u00a0As I laid there in complete willful sacrifice and with the power of eternal nature surrounding me, I was being environmentally birthed, swaddled and nursed.<\/p>\n<p>Halle-fucking-lujah!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Today is Election Day in America. \u00a0What a shit show.<\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t attended any rallies, I don&#8217;t talk politics, I did watch the debates but not for the same reasons most people might.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, I walked the downtown waterfront and just so happened to arrive at my turn around point, the Dali Museum, just in time for a Joe Biden\/Jimmy Buffett &#8220;get out the vote&#8221; rally in a waterfront park.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m still a loner and I had no intention of going to the rally &#8211; it was full of the dreaded &#8220;other people&#8221; &#8211; \u00a0but I wanted to hear what the Vice President had to say, and who isn&#8217;t up for a little Jimmy?
